When our ancestors wanted to erect a building, a group of the men would cut down trees. The younger children would remove the branches so that another group of men could saw the logs into boards. Other men would fashion pegs and nails. The whole community would gather to fasten the hand cut boards together with hand tools and erect the building. Construction was a community effort and everyone worked on the building to have shelter for the winters. During the winters, people would create furniture out of the boards made during the warmer months. All of this was accomplished with hand tools.
